The Oregon Educational Employers Workers Compensation Trust received its certificate of authority from the State of Oregon and began operations in the fall of 1996. Originally designed for Oregon's private colleges, it is the oldest self-insured workers compensation group for independent private employers in the state.

Since its beginning, the Trust has garnered the endorsement of the Oregon Independent Colleges Association, and has become the recognized choice for workers compensation coverage by those colleges. More private colleges currently align themselves with the Trust than any traditional insurance carrier. In addition, the experience rating given to it by the State of Oregon is consistently superior to the ratings of all of those groups who cater to the same industry.

Over the years, the Trust has expanded to include specific non-profit organizations that can claim both an educational component to their mission and an exceptional history of controlling their workers compensation risk. More importantly, it has saved its participants thousands of dollars a year in workers compensation costs. That savings has not come by accident.
